To come from Paris,
by train+bus: RER B direction St Rémy les chevreuse. Get down at station Massy-Palaiseau. Before you get in the train in Paris, you need to check that the train will stop at Massy-Palaiseau (if the light next to 'Massy-Palaiseau' is on, it's ok). It's about 20 min from downtown Paris. Once at Massy-Palaiseau, go to the bus stop of line 91-06. Get down at Ecole Polytechnique-Lozere.
by train+walk: RER B direction St Rémy les chevreuse. Get down at station Lozere. Before you get in the train in Paris, you need to check that the train will stop at Lozere (if the light next to 'Lozere' is on, it's ok). It's about 25 min from downtown Paris. Once at Lozere, there is a small trail that climbs to Ecole Polytechnique. It's quite steep and takes about 15 min.

Inside Ecole Polytechnique (from bus stop or from the trail): you need to go to point 14: enter the building from the south by point 410. Go to 7. Go upstairs (one stage) and then to the right towards 'Amphis' (close to point 14).

You can book any hotel within Paris but 1th, 4th, 5th, 6th and 14th districts are more convenient to get train RER B.
